I’m a PhD student in American intellectual history at Syracuse University. My dissertation, which focuses on the so-called Knickerbocker writers and the Freedom’s Journal circle, describes articulations of American national and personal identity in antebellum New York City print culture. I grew up in Texas and currently live in West Philadelphia.
